Fiat has, in fact, completed the electrification of its full lineup with the 500X Hybrid and Tipo Hybrid. Both are fitted with 48-Volt mild-hybrid technology for lower consumption and emissions. Also, the same powertrain did premiere last month in the E-Hybrid variants of the Jeep Renegade and Compass.
Fiat – Hybrid Setup
The Fiat hybrid setup does include a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder FireFly engine. It does produce 128 hp (96 kW/130 PS) and 240 Nm of torque. It also includes a 48-Volt BSG electric motor that does produce an additional 20 hp (15 kW/20PS) and 41 lb-ft (55 Nm) of torque. In addition, the power is transmitting to the front axle through a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Mid-Hybrids
Then, despite it being classified as mild-hybrids due to the 48-Volt technology, there is a combustion engine in the 500X Hybrid and the Tipo Hybrid. It can thus remain off for up to 47% of the time which is a combined WLTP cycle. It is up to 62% in the city. Also, the cars can startup, park, and even drive. That is with electric power alone and with a system that is recovering energy during the braking and deceleration.
The 1.5 Hybrid powertrains, as a result, did consumer 0.3 It/100km less than the 1.6 diesel in the urban cycle. Also, the 500X Hybrid does emit 11% lower CO2 really compared to the regular 500X with the 1.3-liter gasoline engine. In terms of performance, the Fiat Tipo Hybrid can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in nine seconds while the 500X Hybrid needs 9.4 seconds.
The only difference is the addition of the Hybrid badge on the tailgate visually. Also, the 500X Hybrid does benefit from the new front emblem that was part of the 2022MY updates. This is for the 500X. Also, the Tipo Hybrid is also available in the recently revealing SW Cross Bodystyle combining the practicality of a wagon with crossover styling cues. Plus, both models are also available in the red trim that features a Passione Red exterior. Also, a black interior with red accents and some special logos.
Produced in Melfi, Italy is the Fiat 500 X Hybrid. The Fiat Tipo Hybrid is going to be manufacturing in Tofas, Turkey.
