Wildfires are continuously ruining the air quality in the surrounding areas. And this continues to be true with the impact of Canadian Wildfires. Such disasters will keep damaging the forests of Quebec and Ontario, while aspects of Michigan keep on high alert until at least tonight. This is all information according to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, otherwise known as the EGLE.

All through the upper peninsula of Michigan, there have been massive deteriorations of air quality because of the Canadian wildfires. Additionally, the density of the smoke has found it’s way to southern regions of the state as well. Just yesterday, the air quality of Detroit had ranked about second worst in the world, no thanks to those terrible fires.

EGLE made an announcement that the air quality action day was today as Wednesday, where many particulate are rated at PM 2.3 for each of the southeast Michigan counties. National Weather Service says themselves that residents have to keep the windows covered at night in order to stop smoke from entering inside while running A/C with MERV-13 for high rated filters.

What else has been going wrong?

The Pollutant concentration levels have upped themselves while making unhealthy air quality conditions for the general public. The pollutants all around the air are likely to make unhealthy conditions for sensitive groups. Pollutants all through the air are likely going to make it harder for individuals with respiratory or heart conditions, children and the elderly.

Those affected are told to stay inside and not have much outdoor exertion. The National Weather Service is also asking residents to eliminate activities that could add to the air pollution factors, such as burning wood indoors and outdoors. All the counties that are affected include:

  • Wayne
  • Oakland
  • Lenawee
  • Lapeer
  • Livingston
  • Shiawassee
  • Tuscola
  • Huron
  • Bay
  • Macomb
  • Washtenaw
  • Monroe
  • St. Clair
  • Genesee
  • Sanilac
  • Saginaw
  • Midland
